  • Why do I need to provide my name and email address to activate TestDrive-Assist?
    • In order to activate TestDrive-Assist and register you with our Support Team we ask you to provide us with some basic contact details. In addition, we gather some information about your installation. You can view the information that we gather from the link on the TestDrive-Assist Activation page.

  • How do I tell TestDrive-Assist about the application I wish to test?
    • During the initial set-up, TestDrive-Assist will guide you in the setup process so that it will be able to test an application. It will ask you to start the application, select it from a list of running applications and provide a descriptive name for the application. Once this is done, TestDrive-Assist will start and begin to monitor your testing.

  • Do I have to use the ‘Wizard’ for telling TestDrive-Assist about an application I wish to test?
    • No. Once TestDrive-Assist is loaded, you can use the Applications button to configure other applications you wish to test.

  • TestDrive-Assist is not correctly capturing my tests. What can I do?
    • The trial version of TestDrive-Assist is limited to ‘common’ application technologies. For the purposes of the trial, we suggest that you work with a straight-forward, web-based HTML application. In the full version of TestDrive-Assist you will have the ability to specify your application type so that your testing is correctly captured. If you have any questions relating to this subject please contact our Support Team at support@manualtesting.com.

  • Why do I see red crosses next to the screens that have been captured?
    • TestDrive-Assist incorporates Quality Checks to expand the scope of your testing. These checks are for spelling and, when a browser-based application is being monitored, for hyperlinks. The red cross next to a screen indicates that there is either a spelling error or a hyperlink problem. If you wish, you can use the Applications configuration screen to disable spell-checks and link-checks for an application.

  • I want to spell check my application but there are certain words that I wish to ignore. How can I do this?
    • TestDrive-Assist allows you to maintain a Custom Dictionary. You can do this in 2 ways:
      1) From the Screen Contents view you can right-click a word and add it to the dictionary.
      2) From TestDrive-Assist you can use the Quality Checks button to show the custom dictionary and add words here.

  • My browser-based application is a little slow and I see a lot of link time-out errors. Can I change the time-out period?
    • Yes. Use the Applications button in TestDrive-Assist to show a list of the applications being monitored. Edit the application in question and, on the Quality Checks tab, you will see a Timeout option. By default, this is set to 3 seconds but you can change this up to a maximum of 20 seconds.

  • What is the purpose of the Mark-Up feature?
    • When you are testing an application you may notice items in the application that do not meet the requirements and/or specifications. Mark-up allows you to highlight these items and to add commentary to them so that the ‘error’ is fully documented in the results of the test. Additionally, you can set these Mark-Up items to be pure comment or flag as an error. When flagged as an error, the screen in question will be marked with a red cross to indicate that an error exists.

  • Why doesn't TestDrive-Assist test my application?
    • TestDrive-Assist supports: Applications written with Microsoft Active accessibility. VB Applications .Net Applications HTML Browser applications. JAVA Swing applications (JRE 1.4 and SUN Access bridge 2.0 required). Lotus Notes Applications. Adobe PDF within a browser. TestDrive-Assist does not support applications that are or that incorporate: Flex technology. Flash technology. Animation of any kind. JAVA AWT.
